A bit more about Jake Durrett:
Highly skilled and motivated student currently pursuing degree dedicated to tasks and challenges. Years of work in Digital video, Photography, and Internet multimedia operations. Extensive experience in business operations, marketing, and sales. Experience in community organizing and teamwork, as well as managing staff.
Established Film/Video Production Company; worked on many projects both for the community and for individuals. Directed, filmed, edited, and handled all aspects of post-production including distribution and customer service of Lakeview High School’s special event recordings. Jake Durrett Films now provides professional video services in Southwest Michigan and the surrounding states, working with many large companies producing video, including Obama for America, Shure Inc. in Chicago, and the National Science Foundation. Specializes in the production of experimental video, corporate video, wedding video, and live event coverage.
Created the First Annual Battle Creek Film Festival with Scott Durham (high school film instructor) in the summer of 2006. Community coordinator and Webmaster for festival website. Festival now in its third consecutive year.
In the summer of 2007, I attended the Adobe Reel Ideas Studio student filmmaker program at the Cannes Film Festival on the southern coast of France. There, my team’s documentary “The Carousel” received a first place ranking. Documentary holds the Golden Palm award for Best Documentary, Reel Ideas Studio 2007. Received extensive training in Adobe Creative Suite 3 from industry professionals, with main focus on video editing and DVD production.
Worked with numerous industry professionals, including Chris Coppola at the 2007 PAH-Fest in New Mexico. Member of the Chicago based band Heavier Than Heaven, which blends electronic and folk music with live video manipulation for a multimedia spectacular. Handle all aspects of live video performance and performance video recording. In 2008, Heavier than Heaven changed their name to hypermodal, but the band’s performance is still the same.
